MIT

The Central Utilities Plant (CUP) is an operational plant in Cambridge that makes electricity, steam heat and cooling for MIT's 100+ campus buildings.  While the CUP sometimes offers private tours, the plant has never opened its doors to the general public nor hosted an art exhibit before.  A pop-up installation of Breaking Ground at the CUP's Chiller Hall this March is an invitation for Cambridge residents, MIT students and the general public alike to consider the human side of energy extraction and re-imagine the nature of an energy source and industrial monument that lives within their very own community.  Don't miss this unique opportunity to take a peek (and wander) inside this infrastructural gem right in our midst.
